Baked Potatoe
Ingredients
- Large russet potatoes
- Olive oil
- Coarse kosher salt
- Fixings, as desired: butter, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, chives, salt, pepper, jalapeños, and diced ham
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Scrub the potatoes thoroughly and dry them.
- Poke each potato several times with a fork.
- Rub the skins lightly with olive oil.
- Sprinkle the skins with coarse kosher salt.
- Place the potatoes unwrapped directly on the oven rack for the crispiest skin, or put them on a sheet pan for easier cleanup.
- Bake medium potatoes for 45–50 minutes or large potatoes for 60–70 minutes, until completely tender.
- Check by inserting a fork or skewer into the center. It should slide in easily with almost no resistance.
- Split open and add the fixings you want.
Notes
- Plan on about 60 minutes of cook time, depending on the size of the potatoes.
